Date: Thu, Sep 1st, 2011 1:16:25 pm

Jacksonville State University presents “Storyville” for PreK-2nd Grade on Friday, October 21, 2011 Chaos and hilarity ensue when a disgruntled Ugly Duckling rearranges all of the road signs in the forest, wreaking havoc on the three little pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and other fairy tale characters. Lots of audience participation, humor, and a gentle message make this show a favorite for children and teachers.

“Riders in the Sky” for PreK-5th Grade on Friday, December 9, 2011 Perhaps best known for their recording of “Woody’s Round Up” from “Toy Story 2,” Riders In The Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, reviving and revitalizing Western music. These “Kings of Comedy & Western” have themselves become modern-day icons by branding it with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit, and all along encouraging buckaroos and buckarettes to live life “The Cowboy Way!” ***

TheatreworksUSA presents Jim West Puppet Production’s “How The Elephant Got His Trunk” and Other Tales for Grades PreK-2 on Friday, February 10, 2012 With the Pink Elephant serving as host, the audience will enjoy Rudyard Kipling’s story along with colorful rod puppets performing a madcap Barnyard Opera to the accompaniment of Mozart, Strauss, Rossini and other classical greats.

SRO Artists, Inc. presents “The Peking Acrobats” for 3rd- 8th Grade on Friday, March 23, 2012 From the People’s Republic of China, The Peking Acrobats® have for decades been diplomats of their spirited culture. Since 1958, this elite group has toured the world over, leaving audiences spellbound by the graceful presentation of their ancient folk art, acrobatics. Carefully selected from the finest acrobat schools in China, these gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers transform 2000-year-old athletic disciplines into an all-ages kaleidoscope of entertainment and wonder. ***

Birmingham Children’s Theatre presents “The Little Engine That Could” for PreK-2nd Grade on Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday, March 29, 2012 Choo Choo! Watch the little switch engine beat the odds as he bravely agrees to try and pull the heavy train cars up the steep mountain. All of the big, strong steam engines laugh and say, “If we can’t do it, no one can!” Despite their taunts, the little engine refuses to give up. Children will learn the importance of optimism, hard work, and persistence as they chant, “I think I can! I think I can!”
