The Claddagh School of Irish Dance- "Take your first steps to River Dance for Ages 6 to adult. Barbara Joyce, Instructor. Classroom #3. Classes are every Monday beginning August 10 through May 10, 2010. Class times vary according to age and ability. Numerous opportunities are provided for performance. $48 per month per participant. A $15 late fee will be assessed on fees that are not paid by the first Monday of each month. This program follows the school schedule and does not meet in summer. Irish Dance rehearsal schedule: 3-4 p.m. for Homeschool (6 years and up) 4-5 p.m. for beginners, 5-6 p.m. for Advanced Novice, and 6-7 p.m. for Performance Groups. Teen Improv Club - For Teens ages 13-19. The club meets the second Tuesday of each month from August 10 through May. 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Classroom # 3. Director is Tommy Futch from the "Laughing Matters" Atlanta comedy troupe. This program is similar to TV's "Who's Line Is It Anyway." Fee is $20 annually. Teen Theatre Improv Workshop Tuesday, June 1-4 from 6-9 p.m. Instructor: Tommy Futch from "Laughing Matters" comedy troupe. Fee is $20 per participant. Performance and reception on Friday, June 4 at 8:00 p.m. in the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center Theatre. Performance is Free and open to the public. The Carrollton Youth Orchestra -For advance string students in sixth through twelfth grade on Mondays from 7-8 p.m. beginning August 17, 2009. Participants are given an opportunity to play instruments in an orchestra environment and to perform publicly. Students are accepted by audition or teacher recommendation. Bumblebee Ballet for ages 3 to 6, on Tuesdays from a choice of two classes: 4-4:30 p.m. or 4:30-5:00 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in Classroom #3. Instructor: Phoebe Swatek. Fee: $25 per six week session. Sessions: January 12- February 16, March 2-April 13 (no class April 6), April 20-May 25. Participants will perform at the Children's Hour Concert at 6 pm on December 15. This low key ballet class focuses on fun dancing without high cost recital and costume fees. The instructor will teach beginning basics including pigments, paper, brushes, values, picking photos, etc; Subject matter will include flowers, landscapes, and portraits. MOSAIC JEWELRY AND MINIATURES AGES 16-adult. Saturday, June 26, 9-noon at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in classroom #2. Instructor: Helen Helwig (nationally-known artist). Registration/Class fee is $35 with a $15 supply fee payable to the instructor at the class. Description: Mosaic jewelry and miniatures are very fashionable. Students will create 2 miniature mosaics from a choice of pendants, pins, earrings, or small artworks. Helen will teach the basics of mosaic techniques and design. This exciting new workshop will be open to beginners and advanced students. Minimum 5 students/maximum 15.
MOSAIC BIRDBATH WORKSHOP Ages 16-adult. Saturday, June 26, 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in classroom #2. Instructor: Helen Helwig (nationally-known artist). Registration/class fee $35 with a $15 supply fee payable to the instructor at the class. Description: This is a popular workshop and results in a beautiful mosaic birdbath created on a terra cotta saucer. It is a great beginning mosaic class and students learn basic mosaic techniques and design. We will have a variety of mosaic materials to choose from: handmade tiles, glass beads, pebbles, colorful commercial tiles and found objects - students are encouraged to bring nonporous items they would like to include in their birdbath mosaic. Acting Up - a theatre acting class for children ages 7-12 in six week sessions on Thursdays, from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in Classroom, #1. Jenny Lyle, Instructor. Carroll County Community Theatre presents the musical Peter Pan, J.M. Barrie. About the musical: Children who never want to grow up, swashbuckling pirates, crocodiles, and fairies make up the magical place that is Neverland. Figurative Drawing Workshop for adults (beginning and advanced) 10am- 4:30pm (with optional hour lunch break) on Wednesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 8 at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in Classroom #4. Class will focus on anatomy of the human figure, fundamentals of drawing the human figure, advanced techniques in creating dimension using composition and form and the use of light and shadow, as well as an introduction to portraiture. Carroll County Community Theatre presents the drama Dracula, by Bram Stoker. About the play: Based on Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel, this play offers a full-blooded portrait of the immortal Transylvanian vampire and his horrified real estate agent, Jonathan Harker. The Carrollton Artist Guild presents The Carrollton Fine Arts and Crafts Mecca Festival, Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Carrollton Cultural Art Center, 251 Alabama Street Carrollton, GA 30117. The festival features fine artists from across the country who have been chosen by a jury process to participate.
